She shaved her head

This is my daughter LuAnn. She lives in DC and was here at the beginning of all this and will be back on the 6th of Feb. She and I are very close and I know how hard it is for her to be so far away. She was hooked up through Iphone, so she could participate in the family meeting with the oncologist. She could hear everything and ask questions. Yesterday, while talking to my son, John, he said, "Have you been on Facebook today? You had better check, because there's a picture you might want to see." When I opened FB.....there she was with her head shaved. Her beautiful hair was gone...just fuzz left. I laughed at first.... then cried. She did this to show her love and support for me. I'm having my head shaved in a week or so and we will probably have a picture taken together. Love this girl....

  4. Don't you just love her? My BFF shaved her head and refused to wear wigs--although in cold weather, she did wear knit hats. All of her friends thought it was wonderful that she was not in the least bothered. She said, "Well, I have always worn my hair short and I like this style. It's so easy to take care of!" I think you have that same attitude.

  10. I read your last post and I am enlightened by your feelings on the gift that has been brought to you. I agree and am so touched...you know why. You have been a great confidante.

Everyone responds to chemo in different ways. Listen to your oncologist...they are also trained chemists as well ad medical doctors. And every single thing going into your body is tailor made for the type of cancer you have. There are also drugs that keep the nausea at bay, and meds that help with your pain and loss of energy. Still, it's no picnic but I have been amazed at the amount of strength I have seen in loved ones going through this. I know you have your faith, and the support of your friends, family and community. If anyone is "up" for this...maybe it's you.

I applaud your daughter. She has your back and will be a great cheerleader...I think that's what she is trying to say. I wish I could do something. Just know I am reading (oh dear...you can always put everything into perfect context with your way of writing). I'm sending love, good wishes, hope and prayers.

  14. Kudos to her ! :) When my sons dad started chemo, he ( an old hippie sort :) had a long beard. I call it his ZZ Top look. After the second round of chemo his hair all started falling out. Youngest son shaved first, then others, then a bunch of guys would be posting on FB their shaved beards. Now, Balisha, for some it was hysterical....some who looked like gangsters with their beards, looked alot better without. SOME ...you could see why they had a beard, ha ha. Funniest was a guy in his forties exclaiming that now he looked like his grandma.

MIddle son ( Brent's daddy ) did not shave but grew his as long as he could and went on a weight loss thing. People paid XX per lb then in the end there was a big motorcycle ride to raise money for extra expenses and if XX amount of dollars were collected his beard and head were shaved. It was.

You have a very precious daughter !! VERY ! :)
