I really appreciate all the prayers and comments over the past few days. I've got pneumonia and I am still feeling miserable. The doctor says maybe 6 wks before I'll feel good. I need another x ray in 4 to 6 wks.
I haven't felt like blogging....just couldn't get myself to put anything together, but the computer chair has been my lifesaver for this short time. It's the most comfortable place for me. I come here and just click on the comments, once in a while read a post or two, and just know that there are friends out there...who care about me.

When you are my age, pneumonia can be rough. I'm weak as a kitten, and really can't do anything except take care of my own needs. There's no room for impatience I've found. The disease always wins. I have to learn to just go with the flow. I'm learning :)
Starting my 2nd round of antibiotics today...took me off prednisone, and continue with cough meds and pro biotics. I am hoping that this antibotic will be the miracle drug.
I've never been laid up like this before and don't like having to depend on others for meals etc. It's a whole new learning experience for me. Letting others do for me.
I have found that keeping a freezer full of little meals from now on is essential. Keeping go to foods in the freezer upstairs is essential. Keeping things like tea, gatorade, and juices... essential. When I think of all the holiday prep that I did, when I could have been stocking my freezer... was sort of silly. Preparing for an illness is sort of like preparing for a storm or earthquake. We need certain things on our emergency shelf and with an illness....the same is true. We hope to never have to use these things, but they are there just in case.
We have lots of food here.....just that everything needs long cooking. We did just stock up on freezer entrees by Stouffer's. They are surprisingly good.
As I close this I just want to say....that you find out who really cares about you when you are down. So, thankful that I'm not alone here. Thank you if you've left a comment and even if you didn't, I know that there are so many out there who read this, almost daily blog, who care.
I'll be back later...maybe tomorrow to let you know how I'm doing.
Love to all of you,
Balisha
Sending loads of love and best wishes - I'm sure that you're feeling really rough at the moment. Remember not to rush things when you start to feel a bit better. Take things very steadily and look after yourself! Jx
ReplyDeleteA feel better Balisha! Don't try to do too much too soon :-)
ReplyDeleteSorry you are not feeling well. Praying for an immediate healing! God Bless!
ReplyDeleteDearest Balisha ~ I am so sorry to hear you have pneumonia! I hope the antibiotics work and that you'll soon be feeling like your normal self. Just take each day as it comes, and let others do for you.
ReplyDeleteLove, hugs & prayers ~ FlowerLady
I've been thinking of you and hoping you were feeling better...I am finding that many things are harder as one gets older. Patience is thinner, bouncing back from an illness takes longer and doing things that were easy take a bit more time to do. Praying you will be getting back to normal soon.

One of the first things I do as winter approaches is stock the freezer with chicken and beef stock and several finished soups. I hope you soon feel well enough to enjoy being pampered!!
ReplyDeleteBest,
Bonnie
So glad to hear from you
ReplyDeleteand I knew in my heart
you were not well.
A reminder that I think of often
if this happens to me
and no one near
what would I do?
I have been so careful
almost to a fault
not going anywhere but to the grocerie
for a number of weeks
as flu surrounds me.
Wish I was near...
Prayers continue...
Get the rest you need and take the help you are offered! Wishing you all the best for a speedy recovery!
ReplyDeleteUgh. I'm sorry, Balisha. You'll continue to be in my thoughts. I had Pneumonia once as a kid and almost had to be hospitalized for it, but I imagine the illness is that much worse when one is older. I wish I were nearby to drop off food and flowers.
ReplyDeleteLove and Prayers, and I hope you're able to sleep well, at least--
Val
Please take care. Hope you are feeling better soon!
ReplyDeleteI have watched for you to come back, Balisha! How on earth did you come down with Pneumonia? I assumed you had the flu which would have been bad enough! Yes, I have been praying for you! I will continue!
ReplyDeleteI know you will rest, as hard as it is to do! Let others help you....hoping for a speedy recovery.
ReplyDeleteOh, no, Balisha...I am so sorry that you have pneumonia. Please get lots of rest, keep hydrated (lots of water and herbal tea), and definitely keep up with that probiotic! I know it's hard to let others wait on you and do things for you, but when you're that sick, it's a must. Gentle hugs and get well prayers to you.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you didn't have to go to hospital. Pneumonia is a really bad thing for us in the Seasoned Citizens group. I got the vaccine for it, but now "they" are saying there is another kind of vaccine we should get also. Who can keep up? I have been hibernating most of this month just to stay from crowds of people and all the bad germs out there. Glad you can finally sit up and take a little nourishment!
ReplyDeleteI am relieved to hear from you though sorry you are dealing with pneumonia. I am behind on commenting this new year but have been reading and holding a good thought for you. Please take care and wait until you feel better to get up and around ~ your body will tell you when it's time. Friends and neighbors want to help right now so let them do for you. The time will come when you can repay their kindness and do for them, like you have so often in the past. Sending all good thoughts ~
ReplyDeleteSorry that you have been so sick. I am glad that you felt well enough to post today. Be sure and take your probiotics, steroids and a second round of antibiotics can be hard on your system. I hope that you will turn the corner on your pneumonia and get your strength back soon. Try to get all of the rest you can. Let others help you so your body can put all of its energy into healing.
ReplyDeleteKnow that you have many people praying for you and sending healing thoughts your way.
Susie D.
I've been checking every day and the longer that little teddy bear was up I figured that you'd gotten the flu going around and must have had it pretty bad or gotten complications from it.
ReplyDeleteJust rest as much as you can and take care and you've got friends who love you :)
I'm so sorry to read about your illness. I'm one who reads your blog but doesn't comment. We're all sort of one big family out here, caring for one another. Get well soon!
ReplyDeleteOh I know how miserable you must feel. My hubby had suffered several cases of pneumonia until he finally started getting vaccinations for it and hasn't had it now for the last few years. Take care of yourself and I hope the medicine starts to work soon.
ReplyDeleteIt is so much harder as we get older. I had the pneumonia shot a few years ago, but there is a new one now that we are all supposed to get. Hard to keep track of all of it. We had the flu here at Christmas. We all had the flu shot, but got it anyway. We each had a course of Tamiflu and it still took several weeks. All I wanted to do was sleep. I truly don't remember Christmas week at all. You are right, we should prepare better. We just never think it will happen......I find I am still gathering my strength back. Take it easy and truly, rest is the very best thing we can allow ourselves when healing.
ReplyDeleteBalisha, I am really worried about you. You have been ill so long! Prayers continue!
ReplyDeleteOh, my, Balisha, I am so sorry to read you have been so sick. You were such a great comfort and "companion" during my bout with pneumonia, embolisms, etc last winter. I've been slow on reading blogs. Hoping you will be able to get a handle on this and the new conditions you mentioned in your last post. I know, all too well, the weakness that comes with pneumonia. My thoughts are with you and I will check each day to find out progress. Wish I were there to come by and bring you some meals.
ReplyDeleteFondly, Marcia
Pneumonia too. I do pray that your lungs will clear and heal before you have to have the cancer treatment.
ReplyDeleteWe never know how much sickness takes out of us until we are sick! We never realize how much we do easily on a daily basis until we cannot do it anymore. The last time I got very sick, it was hard to take a shower. My arms were too weak to wash my own hair! Get well soon.
