This is a picture of a bulb garden in a pot that I got from my daughter many years ago. I kept the arrangement in the house until I could safely plant it outside. Then I plopped it in the ground, just as it was growing in the pot. It's come up every year since then. Some years it has been spoiled by the windy weather, but this year it is so pretty. It's just starting to multiply...especially the daffodils.
I love the combination of yellow and red in the spring.
I said that I wasn't going to do it, but I bought a couple of tomato plants on the way home from the pool. We stopped at Merlin's Greenhouse, so that I could buy them and see spring in their beautiful greenhouse. Rows and rows of the biggest geraniums that I have ever seen. All different colors. It made me almost sorry that I didn't buy any this year. He has them arranged as you come up the walk to the building too....what a glorious entrance they make. Of course I had to buy a couple of other things too.
We had the lawn man put on dandelion killer yesterday. Today they are drooping. I have a few in my flower beds and back in the woods....I'll be busy next week digging them out.
We just had dinner and now it's time to just rest. Going to the pool really relaxes me. Sometimes too much. It was fun today, as two little boys were getting lessons. One....so afraid and the other a fish.
Coming home through Oregon, was so pretty. Many trees were blooming and flowers along fence lines and at front doors were so beautiful. Bright colored birds were everywhere. Soon, the spring bulb show will be all over, and we'll be on to something else. I hope everyone can enjoy it while it's here. We've waited so long, it seems, this year.

Hello, sweet Balisha...so glad you came by today....and what a great idea to frame my beautiful sunrise over the pool. Thanks for the suggestion.
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are just beautiful....
Hi BJ,
DeleteI always love visiting your blog....beautiful food and lots of wonderful ideas. That picture was stunning. Have a nice weekend.
I like your bulb pot. Looks good. Aren't greenhouses wonderful. I enjoy being surrounded by all the plants. Just not the same in a parking lot with pallets of plants. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way. I love to go to a greenhouse...even in the winter. There is no fragrance like walking into a humid greenhouse.
DeleteYou have a great weekend too.
Sorry...what do you mean coming home through Oregon? We are neighbors?
ReplyDeleteI so enjoy swimming...at the lake. It's so relaxing and in the summer the water is so warm.
Planted herbs and some flowers seeds today...loved puttering and Milo can never get enough of the outdoors! :)

Oregon, Illinois. It's one town sw from Byron. That's where we go to the pool. I love that little town. It's where I go to shop when friends come visiting. Merlin's Greenhouse is such a busy place with their boutique across the road called The Other Side.
Deletebeautiful spring bulbs, balisha ! :)
ReplyDeleteI had some heirloom ( Mortgage Lifter ) tomato seeds from last year so I started them in a planter to transplant later. But two weeke or so ago Home Depot had an early sale...I think it was 5 for either 8.00 or 10.00 so I picked up a cherry tomato, a few Early Girls and a basil. I figure that the minute I put things in the ground, even late May, we'll have a freak snow or something, the year's been so crazy :)
I hope mine do as well, Balisha! Your bubs are lovely!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers. Last year I was given a "bouquet" that started as bulbs and grew/bloomed on the window sill. I planted the bulbs outside late last summer and this month they have starting blooming. I was as happy as I was surprised. You've given me hope that maybe they will return year after year.
