I took all the books to the library today. They were thrilled with them. I asked if they accepted books and how it worked. They told me that they check the shelves and see if they have the particular book and if they don't they put it on the shelf. The other books are used to sell on their used books shelf...to make money for the library. It made me feel good that someone will be getting some use out of these and that they aren't here gathering dust.
We went to the pool and now we have a week off from swimming. They clean the pool and make some changes for fall and winter this next week. We will miss going...Joe suggested that we do our "chair exercises" here at home next week.
It's really hot today...we haven't had much hot weather, so it's a change for us. We had heavy rain night before last...2 inches. The tidy geraniums in the big containers look like they went through a war. All of the petals are off the flowers. I'm going out in the morning to cut the flowers off and fertilize them for a last time. They are looked so pretty....I hated to see them like this.
We had a tuna casserole and sliced tomatoes for dinner today. Tonight we'll probably have sweet corn while we watch TV.
I'm going to try to get to the farmer's market tomorrow morning.
Next thing on my to do list ...is to get my books together for reading this winter. I have a stack and they are just sitting on the shelf. Making this list out really helped. I just check things off the list as I go and don't forget anything.
We'll probably be inside this weekend. It's supposed to be hot and I want to plan some cool weather meals. I have a couple of my felt critters to finish and I am continuing to get "fall" out in the house.
Have a nice evening.

That was a very good plan for the books you no longer wanted. I always like to stop at the books-for-sale table at our library. I am currently reading Diana Gabaldon's Outlander novel. It is good, but I don't know if I will be able to finish it before it is due back to the library. It is a very long book.
ReplyDeleteI am glad that we got to see pictures of your beautiful geraniums in one of your earlier posts before they got frazzled. Parts of my one zinnia bed have plants with flowers as tall as me. When we had the heavy rain earlier this week, they grew inches taller in just a couple of days. I need to get out and cut some for bouquets and trim the flower stems back. It is starting to look like a zinnia forest. I was planning on doing it this weekend, but since it is going to be up near 100 degrees both days, I am going to wait until it gets cooler. Maybe the zinnias will get tall enough to shade the house in the meantime.
I am like you, in that I have things planned for the upcoming hot spell. I have my good book to read, fresh peaches to eat, and the ingredients for chicken salad, frozen microwave dinners, and so much to do inside the house. I have been in the mood to start doing some little paintings again, but haven't had time with the extra garden stuff lately. I think it will be the perfect weekend for that, too. I will quickly water the flowers early in the day and then stay busy in the air conditioning. I usually start getting in the "Fall" decorating mood at the beginning of September.
Stay cool!
Your day sounds so productive, Balisha. You never waste a minute.
ReplyDeleteDe-cluttering is so very satisfying, especially if you are able to do some good with your excess. I love the idea of giving good books to the library - the shelf-them or sell-them is a win-win proposition!
ReplyDeleteI think this is the best way to recycle books. We do it in a town close-by. I've learned to walk right in and leave the books without looking around unless I'm prepared to buy because I always find something good to read:)
ReplyDeleteOh, I know that feels good...getting those books and excess clutter out of the house! I know how it feels as we have been doing some decluttering too (although we still have more to do!).
ReplyDeleteIsn't it funny how it is getting hotter than it has been for much of the summer, and yet we're inclined to get ready for fall? I am feeling the urge...
Thank you for visiting and leaving your kind words on my blog...you are always so encouraging! Hugs...
We donate books to our library all the time. Their used book sales help them with expenses. Stay cool and enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI love when the library has book sales. I look for really old books...a few weeks ago I got a little golden book...The Christmas Story / same one I'd had as a child, and an old Lutheran hymnal :)
